Adam Boday, a Hungarian researcher, asked a simple question:
why is modern digestion getting worse when modern diets are getting better? The answer was hiding in plain sight, on the surface of wild herbs.
The Question
Humans eat better than any generation in history. More variety. More fresh produce. More awareness of what goes into our bodies. And yet digestive problems are rising, not falling. Probiotics are a billion-pound industry. Fibre supplements line every pharmacy shelf. People are doing everything the experts tell them to do.
So why are so many of them still struggling?
The standard answers (stress, poor diet, genetics) didn't add up. Plenty of people with low stress, excellent diets, and no family history of digestive issues were experiencing the same problems. Something else was going on. Something nobody was talking about.
The Discovery
Boday's background in evolutionary biology led him to an unexpected place: the phyllosphere. That's the scientific term for the microbial communities that live naturally on the surface of plants.

Every herb picked from a meadow. Every berry pulled from a bush. Every root dug from the soil. All of them carried microbes that entered the human digestive system with every meal. Our bodies didn't just tolerate these microbes. We evolved to depend on them. They became part of how we digest food, produce vitamins, regulate immunity, and maintain the gut lining.
Then, over the past century, modern food processing quietly removed them. Pasteurisation. Chlorination. Irradiation. Preservatives. Plastic packaging. Every step designed to make food safer and longer-lasting also made it microbiologically sterile.

He selected 7 traditional medicinal herbs from the Carpathian Basin, each with centuries of use in European herbal medicine. Then he developed a wild fermentation process that allows the microbes already living on these herbs to multiply naturally, producing short-chain fatty acids, organic acids, and digestive enzymes along the way.
